Emergency Alert: If you experience sudden calf pain, chest pain, or fever above 38°C, head to the nearest ER immediately.
When should I see a foot and ankle surgeon?+
The Broström-Gould procedure is the gold-standard surgical technique for repairing chronically torn lateral ankle ligaments. Through a small lateral incision or arthroscopic assistance, the attenuated ATFL and CFL ligaments are tensioned and re-anchored to the fibula using high-strength suture anchors, reinforced by the inferior extensor retinaculum for durable joint stability.
Does every foot condition require surgery?+
No. Many conditions improve through physical therapy, activity changes, suitable footwear, medication, or injections. Surgery is considered only when appropriate.
How long does recovery take?+
It depends on the procedure and your health. Some procedures require weeks, while others need several months of progressive rehabilitation.
Should I bring imaging to my appointment?+
Bring any previous scans or medical reports. Additional imaging may be requested after examination.
How do I access a full recovery protocol?+
You can view a short summary publicly, but full details and files require login to protect personalized medical content.
